Whether you're wine tasting in the Moselle, taking a romantic stroll along the banks of the Neckar in historic Heidelberg or admiring Frankfurt's remarkable 'Mainhattan' skyline, you're sure to have a fabulous time!

5-Day Break

Day 1 – Cochem. Early morning pick-ups and journey to Dover/Folkestone for your ferry/Eurrotunnel crossing to Calais. Join the MS Arlene in Cochem in time to settle into your cabin and enjoy your included evening meal. D
Day 2 – Cochem - Koblenz. Cruise the most beautiful part of the Rhine, arriving in Koblenz at lunchtime. From the 1st May - 16th October 2011 the Koblenz National Garden Show will be taking place, and we offer you the opportunity to visit with us. Alternatively take a trip to the Benedictine Abbey of Maria Laach. B,L,D
Day 3 – Koblenz - Boppard. This afternoon you may choose to join our optional Castles of the Rhine excursion or a visit to one of the most beautiful and romantic places in the Middle Rhine Valley, Bacharach & Oberwessel. B,L,D
Day 4 – Boppard - Rudesheim. Enjoy more time cruising down the Rhine as we head to Rudesheim. Choose from two great excursions. Either take the cable car 250 metres above the Rhine on our Rudesheim and Niederwald Experience or keep your feet on the ground with our Siegfried’s Mechanical Musik Kabinett & wine tasting. B,L,D
Day 5 - Rudesheim - Heidelberg. Today we enter the Neckar River, where we continue to cruise all the way to stunning Heidelberg. On arrival enjoy an optional guided tour of the city or head further afield with our Pearl of the Neckar Valley Tour. B,L,D
Day 6 - Heidelberg - Oppenheim. Head back down the Neckar and into the Rhine to Oppenheim. Join our unique optional excursion which will take you through the Labyrinth under the old town or head to the city of Worms, one of the oldest cities in Germany. B,L,D
Day 7 - Oppenheim - Mainz. Mainz is our port of call today and after lunch you can enjoy an included guided tour of the city. B,L,D
Day 8 - Frankfurt. Cruise the magnificent Main river to Frankfurt and on arrival enjoy an included city tour, exploring the high rises and mainhattan metropolis. We will finish our tour in the Alt Sachsenhausen where you may wish to sample the local wine. B,L,D
Day 9 - Frankfurt. Disembark after breakfast and join your coach for the return journey home. B

Day 2 Option 1 - Castles of the Rhine (£19.99pp)
We begin with a visit to Lahneck Castle; a classic example of Rhine Romanticism. We will also visit the fortress of Ehrenbreitstein and enjoy views over the river, before continuing to the famous Lorelei Rock to hear the legend of the beautiful Lorelei maiden.

Day 2 Option 2 - Bacharach & Oberwessel (£14.99)
Toast to the ancient Roman God of the grapevine and wine, Bacchus as we journey along the magnificent Rhine River to the typical medieval wine village of Bacharach. From here we continue to one of the most beautiful and romantic places in the Middle Rhine Valley, Oberwesel.

Day 3 Mainz City Tour (included)
Mainz is well known for its unique ambience and its cosmopolitan atmosphere. We will take you to see key attractions such as the Old Town and the magnificent Cathedral of St Martin, with time to visit the fascinating Gutenberg Museum (entrance not included).

Day 4 Option 1 - Heidelberg City Tour (£19.99pp)
Join us on this guided city tour; famous for its castle sitting high above Heidelberg it dominates the surrounding hills. Our tour includes a funicular ride to the castle to view the restored areas of the castle and partake in some of the most fascinating views over the city, the Neckar River and the Rhine plains.

Day 4 Option 2 - Pearl of the Neckar Valley Tour (£19.99pp)
Drive through the wooded Neckar Valley with its romantic villages and castles. The lovely village of Hirschhorn, known as the 'Pearl of the Neckar Valley' boasts a medieval castle standing on a mountain ridge and the oldest church in the valley. Our tour continues to the 13th century town of Eberbach with its four well maintained towers and well-kept timber-frame houses.

Day 5 Option 1 - Oppenheim - city under the city tour (£19.99pp)
First mentioned in 765AD in connection with Charlemagne, Oppenheim has passed through many hands, having been ruled by the Spanish and Americans. Famous for its Gothic Church, St.Catherine's is believed to be the most outstanding piece of ecclesiastical architecture between Cologne and Strasbourg Cathedrals. The highlight of our tour will take you into the Oppenheimer Cellar Labyrinth under the Old Town.

Day 5 Option 2 - Rhine & the City of Worms (£14.99)
Established by the Celts before 14 BC, this city competes with Trier and Cologne for the title of the oldest city in Germany. Worms is the only German member in the organisation "Most Ancient European Towns Network" and its imperial Romanesque Cathedral is considered one of the finest along the Rhine.

Day 6 Frankfurt City Tour (included)
Explore the high rises and mainhattan metropolis. We will continue onto the Sachsenhausen (museum) embankment, the location of ten interestingly designed museums. We will finish our tour in Alt Sachsenhausen where we'll take you to one of the many traditional Ebbelwei taverns where you may wish to sample the local wine.

Day 7 Option 1 - Wine Tasting & Siegfried's Mechanical Musik Kabinett (£19.99pp)
Join us on a guided tour of the worldfamous Siegfried's Mechanical Musik Kabinett which houses a remarkable collection of mechanical musical instruments. Our excursion also includes a visit to a Adolf's wine cellar. After which you will have free time to explore Rudesheim.

Day 7 Option 2 - Rudesheim and Niederwald Experience (£19.99)
Hop on the little noddy train which takes you from the MS Arlene and up into the centre of Rudesheim, where we stop to enjoy a traditional Rudesheimer Coffee - made with the famous local Asbach Brandy! From here we glide on a cable car, 250 metres above the Rhine to the impressive Niederwald Monument for spectacular views over the Rhine. The monument is 132ft high and about 120ft wide, the main figure of the monument is the Germania (made of 32 tons of bronze), bearing the Imperial sword and the German Emperor's crown. Take in the breath-taking views or visit the gift shop and café, before at your leisure taking the cable car back down to Rudesheim, to enjoy free time.

Day 8 Option 1 - Maria Laach Abbey and Eifel Volcanic Trail (£19.99)
This excursion begins with a visit to Maria Laach Abbey a Benedictine Abbey picturesquely located on the wooded shores of a crater lake. Maria Laach's Abbey church is a beautiful and important example of German Romanesque architecture. From here we make our way through the Eifel and the famous Volcanic Trail.

Day 8 Option 2 - Koblenz National Garden Show (£29.99)
Feast your eyes on the colour of thousands of flowers and blooms at the Electoral Palace with its uninterrupted views of the Rhine. The Blumenhof will display creative horticultural sculptures and gardens displaying plants and flowers from biblical mythology. Take a trip on the cable car over the Rhine and you'll find the largest area, the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress enthroned high above the valley with astounding views of the Rhine, the Moselle and the town.
